Technology and difficult heritage: the role of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation | MASTERCLASS with Wojciech Soczewica | 26.11

// 2025-11-19

How can modern technologies support remembrance and historical education? What challenges arise as the time distance from events of 80 years ago continues to grow - when witnesses are passing away and the demons of hatred, antisemitism, and racism are re-emerging?

During a meeting with Wojciech Soczewica, Director General of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation, we will take a closer look at the role of memorial sites in today’s world and how the Foundation responds to these challenges.

We will discuss new technologies in historical education - from online tours that emerged during the pandemic, to creating digital replicas of the former camp for the film industry. We will also explore exhibitions of camp art and their significance in preserving memory.

The event will be an opportunity to reflect on the contemporary generations’ right to memory, our responsibility toward history, and the possibilities new tools offer for passing on difficult heritage to the future.

26 November (Wednesday) 2025, 3:30-5:00 PM
